Services for Holy Week and Easter 2019

Holy Week is the most solemn week in the Christian calendar.  Throughout the world, Christians gather to remember, re-enact and re-present the Passion and death of Jesus.  We who live in the light of the resurrection know that Jesus’ death and burial is not the end of the story, so it is impossible for us fully to grasp what the disciples, and even more what Jesus himself went through in those days from his entry into Jerusalem on a donkey through what he knew were his last hours with his friends, through his arrest, trial and agony and finally his death.  But by prayer and in imagination we can enter into the story, we can connect it with the suffering and pain in today’s world and with our own experience of pain and suffering.  This of itself can deepen our compassion and love.  And more than that, it can prepare us to receive the forgiveness, hope and joy of Christ’s resurrection.  Those who manage to gather for daily worship in Holy Week nearly always speak of how moving, precious and strangely rewarding experience it can be.  You are warmly invited to all these services.
